Student Media & Photograph Policy

Effective Date: November 2, 2026 | Prepared for School Administrative Approval & Parent Guidance

PRIVACY-FIRST COMMITMENT TO MINORS & PARENTAL RIGHTS

O'Nest Gurukul is firmly dedicated to safeguarding the dignity, personal privacy, and safety of every child enrolled in our institution. In compliance with the Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Act, 2023, the Juvenile Justice Act, and child safeguarding standards, this policy outlines how photographs, video footage, and academic achievements featuring students are captured, moderated, published, and managed.

1. Scope and Purpose

During the academic calendar, school events such as the Annual Sports Day, Cultural Gatherings (e.g., "Vedat Marathe Veer Daudale Saat" choral recitals), Science Exhibitions, Yoga Day celebrations, and academic award ceremonies are documented to celebrate student achievement, foster school community, and inform prospective families about our educational ethos.

2. Categorization of Media

  • General Campus & Group Activity Imagery: Wide-angle or contextual photographs of classroom learning, playground activities, tree plantation drives, and large-group performances where individual students are not personally identified by full name.
  • Individual Recognition & Talent Imagery: Close-up portraits highlighting specific state, national, or inter-school laureates (e.g., Classical Dance or SOF Olympiad merit holders). Such images are published exclusively with parental consent.

3. Safety & Protection Principles

O'Nest Gurukul enforces strict child-safeguarding standards across all online publications:

  • No Sensitive Personal Data: We never publish student residential addresses, personal phone numbers, email addresses, dates of birth, Aadhaar numbers, or examination registration numbers.
  • Appropriate Dress & Context: All published media captures students in modest, official school uniforms, activity attire, or stage performance costumes in respectful learning environments.
  • Stripped Metadata: Digital images published to our web server have identifying EXIF GPS location tags removed.
  • Restricted Third-Party Access: High-resolution student archives are not distributed or licensed to third-party commercial marketing agencies.

4. Authorized Publication Channels

Official school media is published exclusively across verified channels managed by authorized school staff:

  • Official Institutional Website: onestgurukul.in
  • Official Instagram Channel: @onestgurukul
  • Official School Notice Boards and Printed Annual Prospectus

5. Parental Consent and Opt-Out Rights

Parents and legal guardians are requested to sign the Annual Student Photograph & Video Consent Form at the commencement of each academic year or at the time of admission. Parents retain full freedom to:

  • Grant Full Consent: Permit general group and merit recognition photographs.
  • Grant Limited Consent: Permit inclusion only in group academic and sports activities, excluding solo portraits.
  • Opt-Out Completely: Request that their child not appear in public-facing digital media.

6. Procedure to Request Image Removal

If a parent or guardian wishes to withdraw previously granted consent or requests the immediate removal of a specific photograph or video from our website or social media channels, they may contact our administration desk:
